ATP Munich 1/8-Finals

Hanfmann – Huesler: 18.04.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting

Yannick Hanfmann started off the tournament well, winning against Shevchenko in three tight sets. He did not serve well, but he was great under pressure. Hanfmann is not in his best form. He lost three out of his last five matches. This season, Hanfmann has played 11 clay court matches already. He only won 5 of them, but he has a decent chance to go deep this week in his home country. Being a German, Hanfmann played a lot of matches on the clay throughout his career. He also had his biggest results on clay. Last year, Hanfmann made it to the ATP Masters 1000 Rome quarterfinals.

Marc-Andrea Huesler had to fight throughout the qualification tournament to get into the main draw here in Munich. After spending almost three hours in his final qualification round against Choinski, Hanfmann spent almost another two good hours in the first round against Topo. He lost the first set 3-6. After that, Huesler started serving better, and won 3-6 6-1 63 in the end. Before ATP Munich, Huesler played a challenger tournament in Madrid where he reached the quarterfinals. He is currently outside the top 200, and is playing most of the time on the challenger level tour.

Best Bet to Make

All being said, we believe that Hanfmann is a better player at the moment. He is looking to get into the top 50 this year, and we believe that he could do it with a couple of good results this season. He had a very solid first round match, and we believe that he will win easily tomorrow.

That being said, Hanfmann winning is a value bet.

Van De Zandschulp – Struff: 18.04.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 1-0

Van De Zandschulp lost three out of his last five matches. Last week in Monte Carlo, Van De Zandschulp had to retire mid-match against Munar. He has some serious conditioning problems at the moment. He has played only four clay court matches this season and has an even 2-2 record. In the first round, here in Munich, Van De Zandschulp won in three hard-fought sets against Gakhov. He really struggled against the player who is almost out of the top 300. If he keeps playing like this, Van De Zandschulp will soon be out of the top 100.

Jan-Lennard Struff also lost three out of his last five matches. However, he had a solid tournament in Monte Carlo last week. He won against Baez and Coric in the first two rounds. Both of them are very solid clay court players. In the 1/8-Finals, Struff did not have any chance against Jannik Sinner. He is the 4th seed here in Munich. Struff also used to train in Munich, so you could say that this is his hometown.

Best Bet to Make

We believe that Struff is currently a better prepared player. He had a solid tournament in Monte Carlo last week. We believe that he will continue winning at home as well.

All being said, Struff to win is a value bet.
